      About Teri Wing

Teri Wing is a self-taught Canadian painter based in Gananoque, Ontario, celebrated for her impressionistic figurative works that delve into themes of memory, identity, and emotional resonance.

Preferring to use a palette knife, flat brush and limited color palette, the artist paints in oils and incorporates cold wax as a medium to add layers, textures and depth. Influenced by dramatic lighting and the shared depth of human emotion and experience, her artwork carries a contemplative tone, imbued with mystery and a subtle touch of melancholy.

Wing often finds inspiration in vintage black-and-white photographs, many of which she discovers in flea markets and antique shops. These anonymous figures become the foundation for her work, serving as muses through which she reimagines untold stories and revives moments lost to time. Her paintings are infused with a sense of nostalgia, inviting viewers to forge personal connections with the subjects and imagine their own interpretations of the scenes portrayed.
