When I paint, I am exploring shapes of different sizes and colors that are both neutral and bright. My work is essentially about line, color and shape. I am always interested in how shapes and patterns and related colors co-exist and how the resulting flat and textured surfaces appear.
My background is in Collage with acrylics, paper and textiles along with printmaking. Several years ago, I switched from acrylic paint to oil paint along with the addition of cold wax medium.
While most of my current paintings are still life oriented, I rarely plan ahead. I start with simple shapes and colors and then observe what develops as I add and take away paint and cold wax.
My work appears in "Cold Wax Medium Techniques, Concepts & Conversations" 2016 published book by Rebecca Crowell & Jerry McLaughlin.
I live in Burlington, ON and have been fortunate to study with many talented painters and artists. I have studied Oil and Cold Wax with ‘Cold Wax Academy’, ‘Art & Success’, ‘Mulranny Arts’ and taken classes locally with DVSA and AGB.
