In this panel I was experimenting with extreme subtlety. The focus is on the brighter area of light value. Embedded in the darkness are subtle carnival elements with a somewhat feeling of a harlequin pattern. It is almost like another dark element in the dark area is, moving in a secretive mode. A special note - some areas have a clear gloss to them and other areas are satin. This is a surface observation only to reward the most intimate viewer.Smashing sparkles of glass and a scream pierces the silence of the murky night. Footsteps running wetly, slapping on the wet pavement. A dark shadow strobes past the moonâs reflection at the end of a long dark early morning street. Like a detective novel all cloak-and-daggerly-like - there is lots going on in the dark areas. At first glance we only see the bright part of painting. More is available to see than what is at first evident.A keen observer will notice the orchestration of the gloss selections on the surface well before they see the painting up close. Some areas have a high gloss to them and other areas have a matte coating. This painting benefits from being positioned near an incidental light source
