Artist Statement

"My goal as a artist is to encourage the appreciation of the vast Canadian wilderness and the importance of preserving it for future generations. Kayaking and hiking in wilderness areas connects me with nature physically, emotionally and psychologically. My journey involves hiking over large expanses of granite rock and through deeply forested areas. I paddle over turbulent waves; manoeuvre through thundering rapids and quietly cross peaceful, reflective lakes. I reach areas of wilderness that take my breath away. Using thick, dynamic, gestural brushwork. I  stimulate emotions, memories and thoughts as I paint 'en plein air'."
